Who Is The New Director Of The Orlando Museum Of Art?

The Orlando Museum of Art is delighted to welcome Dr. Christina La Fauci as its new director. The Museum has long been a leader in promoting the arts in Central Florida and Dr. La Fauci will help ensure its continued success. Dr. La Fauci is an experienced museum professional with an impressive background of accomplishments.

Dr. La Fauci brings to the Orlando Museum of Art a deep knowledge and appreciation for the arts and culture. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and French from Sweet Briar College, a Master of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Florida, and a Doctorate in Art and Archaeology from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Florida.

Prior to joining the Orlando Museum of Art, Dr. La Fauci held numerous positions in art museums and academic institutions. She served as the Executive Director of the University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum from 2010-2013, Director of the University of Florida Harn Museum of Art from 2015-2019, and Chief Curator at The Menil Collection in Houston, TX from 2019-2020. She has also held a variety of teaching and research positions across the country, most recently as an Adjunct Professor in the College of Design, Construction, and Planning at the University of Florida.

Meet The New Director Of The Orlando Museum Of Art

The Orlando Museum of Art is pleased to announce that Jodi Throckmorton has been appointed as the new Director and CEO of the Museum. Jodi Throckmorton is a highly experienced museum professional with over 20 years of experience in the arts.

Throckmorton is an accomplished leader with a passion for the visual arts and a commitment to providing access to the arts for all. She holds an MA in Art History from the University Of Delaware and a BA in Art History from San Diego State University. She has held a variety of roles during her career, most recently as the Executive Director of the Colby College Museum of Art in Maine, where she led the museum to record-breaking attendance, more than doubling the number of visitors in the past five years.

At the Orlando Museum of Art, Throckmorton will lead the museum’s mission to connect people with art and ideas, and provide visitors with a world-class experience through innovative exhibitions, educational programs, and special events. She will also lead the museum’s continued public-private partnership with the City of Orlando, Orange County Government, and the Central Florida Legislative Delegation, and work to strengthen local, regional, and national relationships.

The Orlando Museum of Art is proud to announce the latest addition to its team: Curator-in-Chief, Dr. Ashley Cole. Dr. Cole brings with her an extensive knowledge of art history and an eye for contemporary art that will help the museum continue to bring world-class art to the people of Central Florida.

Dr. Cole has an impressive background in the arts, with a PhD in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Art History from the City University of New York. She is also the recipient of numerous awards for her work in the field of art history, including a John Deere Fellowship, a Kress Foundation Fellowship, and a Samuel H. Kress Foundation Fellowship.

In her new role as curator-in-chief at the Orlando Museum of Art, Dr. Cole will be responsible for leading the museum’s curatorial staff in the acquisition, preservation, and interpretation of works of art from around the world. She will also oversee the museum’s educational and public programming. Dr. Cole is excited to bring her expertise and passion to the museum and looks forward to helping to make the Orlando Museum of Art a destination for visitors from all over the world.

Dr. Cole’s appointment comes at a critical time for the Orlando Museum of Art, which is currently undergoing major renovations and expansion. The museum is in the process of adding a new wing, which will more than double the museum’s current size. With the addition of Dr. Cole’s expertise, the museum will be able to better serve its patrons and grow its collection to reflect the diversity and creativity of the Central Florida community.
