Universal Orlando Resort announced the replacement for the Jaws ride in Amity Village with an all-new attraction. This new attraction is called “The VelociCoaster” and is an intense, high-speed roller coaster with a story about a pack of raptors on the loose. The VelociCoaster is the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Universal Studios in Orlando. The ride officially opened on June 10th, 2021.
The VelociCoaster is located in the Jurassic Park area of Universal Studios and is the centerpiece of the park. The ride is 4,700 feet long and features a 155-foot tall top hat, a zero-G roll, and an 80-degree drop. Riders will experience speeds of up to 70 mph on the coaster. The coaster also features two launches, two inversions, and multiple airtime moments.
The ride experience features a story about a pack of raptors that has escaped the Isla Nublar Lockwood Estate. Riders are brought into the experience when they board the coaster and are taken on a thrilling journey with the raptors. The coaster features an original score composed by the Hollywood-based film and television composer, Brian Tyler. The soundtrack was recorded with a 50-piece orchestra.
The VelociCoaster features two ride queues, one for the front of the train and one for the back. Guests have the option to choose one of the two queues when they arrive at the ride. The front queue offers the most thrilling experience, as riders will feel like they are on the back of the raptors. The back queue is more family-friendly and offers a less intense experience.
The VelociCoaster also features two on-board cameras, which allow riders to take home a souvenir of their experience. The cameras are located on the zero-G roll and the top hat, and the photos can be purchased at the exit of the ride.
The VelociCoaster is one of the most thrilling attractions at Universal Studios in Orlando and a must-do for thrill-seekers. The coaster is sure to be a hit and bring in a lot of visitors to the park.
